YOUTH LEAGUES -- Natick Little League has opened registration for its summer baseball and softball programs, open to Natick residents only, the league's website said.
Natick Youth Basketball closed the books on its travel season with two notable playoff runs. The Boys 8C team finished league play at 6-5, then reeled off three straight playoff victories to reach the D6 championship game, where it lost a close final to Swansea, according to a post on the organization's Facebook page. "This season was never just about the scoreboard," coach Dave F. was quoted as saying in the post, crediting the team's effort and accountability. Separately, the Boys 8B team, competing as a B squad in Division 3 against mostly A-level opponents from surrounding towns, was described by the organization as delivering "multiple buzzer-beating wins" over the course of the season, with coach Shawn Kelly calling it "an absolute pleasure to coach."
