NATICK -- Natick Youth Basketball ran the first of two travel basketball tryout weekends for players in grades 4-8 from Sept. 25-27, with a second tryout weekend scheduled for Oct. 2-4. The organization has said players trying out are expected to attend both weekends for their grade. The travel program, NYB's "cornerstone" offering, runs each winter for boys and girls in grades 4-8.
The tryouts follow weeks of pre-season skills clinics at Kennedy Middle School, open to players entering grades 4-8, which the organization said were intended to help kids "build skills, confidence and prepare for travel tryouts" ahead of this week's sessions.
NYB said it is also moving ahead with its other fall and winter offerings: Fall Hoopsters, an introductory program for grades K-3 running Saturdays from Oct. 17 to Nov. 21 at Kennedy Middle School, and winter Intramural Basketball for grades 1-8, which the organization said begins in December with weekday practices and Saturday games.
