NATICK --
YOUTH LEAGUES -- Natick Youth Basketball ran free open gym sessions for travel basketball players at Kennedy Middle School this week, supervised by NYB coaches and board members with no registration required. The sessions, scheduled across grades 4 through 8 for boys and grades 4 through 8 for girls, run from Oct. 19 through Oct. 28, giving travel players gym time before practices begin in November.
NYB also issued a "last call" for Intramural Basketball registration, asking families to sign up by Oct. 28 to secure a spot. The program, open to grades 1 through 8, will run Saturday combined practice and game sessions for grades 1-2 from Dec. 5 through Feb. 13. Grades 3-8 will have one weekday practice and Saturday games, with practices beginning the week of Nov. 30 and games starting Dec. 12 and running through early March.
Separately, NYB announced it is transitioning to new travel uniforms this season and phasing out the current style. The organization said it will cover 50 percent of the uniform cost for all players this season to ease the transition. NYB is also seeking uniform sponsors for its intramural season for grades 1-8, offering sponsors' business names on the back of team uniforms; families or businesses interested were directed to contact Brendan Shank.
