Natick Youth Basketball closed the book on a playoff run to the D6 championship game and saw one of its middle school travel teams give back off the court.

NATICK -- Youth basketball provided the week's notable local sports items, according to posts from Natick Youth Basketball (NYB).

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Natick Youth Basketball's Boys 8C travel team finished its season 6-5 in league play before reeling off three straight playoff wins to reach the D6 championship game, where the team lost a close, "down to the wire" final against Swansea. Coach Dave F. was quoted by the organization saying the season was "never just about the scoreboard," emphasizing effort, accountability and teamwork.

Separately, NYB's 7th Grade Girls travel team volunteered at the Natick Service Council Food Pantry, where players helped sort donations and stock shelves. The organization said the players were "representing Natick Youth Basketball" while supporting local families in need.

NYB also noted that registration for its 2026-27 fall and winter programs, including Travel Basketball (grades 4-8), Intramural Basketball (grades 1-8), Fall Hoopsters (grades K-3) and pre-season skills clinics, is open, with travel tryouts set for Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-4 and Fall Hoopsters running Saturdays Oct. 17-Nov. 21 at Kennedy Middle School.
