Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of August 24, 2026

Natick Zoning Board approves Wentworth Road addition 4-1, citing new limits on its own authority. The board voted 4-1 to allow a second-story addition at 2 Wentworth Road after Parsons Strategic Capital's engineer, Peter Bemis, agreed to plant eight arborvitaes and install a six-foot fence to screen an abutter's yard. Board members said a Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40A change effective July 1 now lets many additions proceed "by right" without a hearing, leaving them, in one member's words, unable to "handcuff the developer." Separately, the board continued a proposal to demolish a three-family house at 8 Moore Street and build a three-unit townhouse to September 14, after abutter Rob Steckbeck flagged a height-calculation error and multiple Lincoln Street neighbors objected to parking and scale on the roughly 6,000-square-foot lot.

A fence-violation appeal at 9 Dwight Avenue, carrying fines of $200 per day, was continued to October 26 so the appellant can obtain a property survey. Two smaller projects, a garage at 5 Crescent Road and a porch at 19 Lena Road, were approved unanimously.
