Hybrid Town Meeting Committee, · Meeting of July 23, 2026

Natick's Hybrid Town Meeting Committee voted to send its draft report and warrant articles to Town Counsel for review ahead of an August 20 warrant deadline. Chair Grace Keeney and the committee worked through sections on accessibility, bylaw changes and staffing costs, with member Saul Beaumont pressing for a "rough order of magnitude" cost estimate from the town's IT contact, Dennis Roche. Town Moderator Jeff Alderson told member Patricia Demeo the committee has standing to sponsor its own Home Rule Petition, saying "you're a standing committee of a town meeting, you can sponsor an article and put whatever you want in it." Frank Foss, who moved to send the drafts to counsel, called the home rule language close to existing precedent, saying "our motion is going to comply with the law because it's mimicking it very closely." The roll call vote, with Brinley Vickers, Foss, Larry Drolet, Demeo, Randy Brewer and Beaumont voting yes, passed unanimously.

The committee set its next meetings for August 4 and August 11, targeting a final report by mid-September.
