Hybrid Town Meeting Committee · Meeting of August 25, 2026
Natick's Hybrid Town Meeting Committee voted unanimously to advance a revised home rule petition ahead of a Finance Committee hearing and October Town Meeting. Chair Grace Keeney's panel voted 7-0 to strike the word "hybrid" from a quorum provision in Motion B and separately voted 7-0 to accept a Finance Committee warrant-article questionnaire. Minutes approval passed 5-1, with member Brinley Vickers abstaining; member Frank Foss was absent.
Member Saul Beaumont pressed for firmer cost and technical-approach language, calling a community survey in the draft report "an advertising gimmick," while Town Moderator Jeff Alderson said "it was not this committee's charter nor ability to put a dollar amount on what it's going to cost." The report cites a cost range of "$10,000 to over $100,000" based on peer-community data. The committee also debated how to credit departed member Patricia Demeo in its final report after she asked to have her name removed.
