Natick's Hybrid Town Meeting Committee advanced a fall warrant article and two of three related motions, deferring a vote on its home rule petition.
Hybrid Town Meeting Committee, · Meeting of August 4, 2026
Natick's Hybrid Town Meeting Committee advanced a fall warrant article and two of three related motions, deferring a vote on its home rule petition. The committee voted 5-0 with Saul Beaumont abstaining to accept the draft warrant article subject to Town Counsel review, then voted 6-0 to accept a motion directing Town Meeting to hear its final report, and 8-0 to accept a non-binding resolution urging town officials to begin implementation planning. Clerk Josh Ostroff and member Frank Foss debated proposed home rule petition language requiring only a single procedural vote on hybrid participation per Town Meeting rather than one per session; member Brinley Vickers warned the change could create "a quorum thing" for counting remote attendees.
The petition vote was pushed to the committee's August 11 meeting, with all materials due to the warrant by August 20.
