Natick Issues Heat Alert and Cooling Centers for Four-Day Holiday Weekend

With a four-day "Unhealthy Heat Alert" set to begin Wednesday and a mandatory outdoor water-use ban already in place, Natick residents are heading into the July 4th holiday weekend under two simultaneous public-health and resource advisories from town officials.

The town issued an "Unhealthy Heat Alert" covering Wednesday, July 1, through Saturday, July 4. Several town buildings as well as the Natick Mall will be available as cooling centers during that period, though hours vary by location — residents should check the town's official alerts page for specifics.
That alert arrives on top of a mandatory ban on all nonessential outdoor water uses that remains in effect. Residents are asked to hold off on lawn irrigation, car washing, and other discretionary outdoor water activity until the restriction is lifted.
On the infrastructure front, the town posted two notices Tuesday afternoon related to roadway work. A neighborhood information notice covers the broader 2026 Roadway Improvements program, while a separate update addresses Bacon Street between Marion and Oak streets — part of the ongoing 2025 Roadway Improvements Project. Residents on or near those corridors should expect traffic and access disruptions.
Finally, a reminder on holiday logistics: the Recycling Center will be closed both Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, due to the holiday. Curbside trash and recycling pickup, however, will run on its normal schedule for the week of Tuesday, June 30, through Friday, July 3.
