Natick Finance Committee opens fall season with a 17-article warrant walkthrough and a budget-format clash. Chair Todd Gillenwater swore in new members Alfred Doig, Brian Lucenta and David Richardson before previewing hearings that begin September 8 on articles including a Lilja Elementary feasibility study and a solar-credit revolving fund. Member David Coffey said condensing the town's roughly $211 million budget into one Town Meeting motion made the "ability to debate the budget extremely limited," while member Richard Pope countered that splitting it up would undo efficiency the committee's subcommittees worked "dozens of hours" to provide.
The committee approved March 19 and April 7 minutes 12-0-1 and January 26 minutes 10-0-3, and is still awaiting a town counsel ruling on whether it must report to residents on statewide, not just local, ballot questions.
