Natick Finance Committee advances turf field and hybrid Town Meeting reports toward Article 15 and Article 14 despite pushback. The panel voted 10-2-1 to recommend Town Meeting hear a turf field study led by Select Board member Bruce Evans, after member Donna asked why the report was moving forward given Town Meeting's three-year advisory moratorium and a public commenter urged a "referral" over a recommendation, saying the report omits Sustainability Department health findings. On Article 14, members voted 12-0-1 to hear the Hybrid Town Meeting Study Committee's report, presented by Grace Keeney, then 11-0-3 to recommend a home rule petition securing permanent hybrid-meeting authority before the state's temporary authorization expires next June.
The committee heard the study cost roughly $12,000 a night for current town meeting technology, with hybrid support estimated to add about $4,000 more nightly. The committee also approved its September 10 minutes 14-0.
