Conservation Commission · Meeting of August 6, 2026

Natick Conservation Commission finalizes permits for a West Central Street housing project and welcomes two new volunteers. The board voted unanimously to close the stormwater and wetlands hearings for 273 West Central Street, requiring all 107 newly planted trees to survive one year and maintenance obligations to be recorded at the registry of deeds in perpetuity. Michael Price and David Beattie were appointed Conservation Commission associate members; Denise Roby, Bob Carmichael and Lisa Stanley were reappointed to the Trails and Forest Stewardship Committee.

The board also weighed a contested request to cut four white pines inside a 2002 conservation restriction near Winter Oaks, and heard public comment on unauthorized activity near an informal bike-jump area off Middlesex Path, where a Jeep recently drove into conservation land. Neighbor Sal Alessi called the situation "serious," while associate member David Beattie said the jumps are "actually an asset to the community."
