NATICK — The Select Board voted unanimously to retain CBIZ for fiscal 2026 despite audit findings of control gaps. The auditors disclosed one material weakness in retirement account reconciliations from January 2022 through June 2026 and three significant deficiencies in cash and bank controls, which the Finance Director attributed to insufficient monthly closings. The Board also voted unanimously to direct administration to commence procurement for audits beginning in fiscal 2027, with the Audit Advisory Committee to review responses and recommend a firm.
The Town's fiscal 2025 general fund balance increased approximately $1.6 million, and the net pension liability declined to $30 million from $42.3 million in fiscal 2024, driven by strong investment returns.
