Natick's Select Board deferred a Main Street redesign vote to September 9 after extensive discussion of a $11 million state-funded project that would reshape downtown. Ms. Pope reported safety data showing 90 crashes along the project corridor from 2021 to 2025, with 9 injuries and 3 involving vulnerable road users, and Ms.
Coughlin noted the corridor between Common Street and South Avenue ranks in the state's top 5 for pedestrian crashes. The Board weighed four concepts, mill and overlay or one of three design options, with the Main Street Improvement Working Group having voted 8-to-7 to endorse the hybrid concept. The Board agreed to compile specific conditions and considerations for 25 percent design refinement, with deliberation and a final vote set for September 9 at 6:00 PM.
