NATICK — The Natick Select Board unanimously approved Officer Travis Moran as sergeant, the first promotion under a non-civil service model. Chief James Hicks presented Officer Moran, a 2009 Natick High School graduate and National Guard veteran with Afghanistan deployments who has served in the department since December 2014. The promotion process included a written examination, full-day assessment center, and panel interview requiring candidates to present their vision as sergeant.
Town Administrator James Errickson, who participated in the panel interview, noted the framework allowed the department to demonstrate the quality of officers seeking leadership roles. The vote carried 5-0-0 on a motion by Bruce T. Evans, seconded by Linda Wollschlager.
