Natick Transportation Committee backs hybrid Main Street design. The five-member committee, chaired by Ed Doherty, unanimously approved its May minutes and heard presentations on two major projects: Conway School students' West Central Street Connector trail and the Main Street pedestrian redesign. Morgan Griffiths, the town's Transportation and Economic Development Planner, detailed how the hybrid design could secure $11 million in federal Transportation Improvement Program funding versus $2 million for a basic mill-and-overlay.
MassDOT's TIP program requires separated or buffered bike lanes, making the hybrid design eligible while basic resurfacing is not.
