DATELINE — NATICK

The Town of Natick and the Natick Soldiers Systems Center announced Wednesday they will hold a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, gathering residents in Natick Center on the actual anniversary date. The announcement came alongside a public alert about an invasive pest newly confirmed in town and an updated schedule for the town's ongoing road work.

TOWN HALL

Town officials and the Natick Soldiers Systems Center said the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, between the Natick Police Department and Natick Fire Department buildings in Natick Center, inviting the public to gather and reflect in honor of those lost and the first responders among the community.

The town also alerted residents that the spotted lanternfly, an invasive pest, has now been officially reported in Natick. Officials are asking residents to learn how to identify and squish the insect and to report sightings to help protect local plants.

Separately, the Department of Public Works posted an updated schedule for its 2026 Roadway Improvements program, revising the work window that had been set for the week of Aug. 17.
