Natick Recreation and Parks Commission approves summer programming and Cole Center planning. The commission unanimously approved prior minutes and a donation report at its February 9 meeting. Summer camp registration opens Wednesday at noon with new offerings including a STEM program and outdoor fitness series developed with the Board of Health.
Deputy Director Lauren Meurer detailed capacity constraints driven by early registration and facility space limits, noting the department may expand to a second location once staff is hired. The department will hire a consultant in the second half of 2026 to conduct a Cole Center feasibility study; the aging facility has operated without major updates since 1993, with the master plan update planned for fiscal 2027 and results to be reviewed alongside department usage data.
