Hybrid Town Meeting Committee pauses moderator interviews midway through questioning.

Hybrid Town Meeting Committee · Meeting of January 7, 2026

NATICK — Hybrid Town Meeting Committee hears moderator testimony on remote and hybrid formats. The committee approved December minutes unanimously and then spent two hours questioning Frank Foss, former Town Moderator, and Jeff Alderson, current Town Moderator, on lessons from Natick's 2020 fully remote town meeting. Foss emphasized the need for extensive preparation, trainer support, and advance motion notice; Alderson called for device standardization, network bandwidth requirements, and multi-factor authentication to prevent voter impersonation.

The committee paused at 9:25 p.m. mid-interview and agreed to resume questioning on January 13 at 7:00 p.m., with guest speakers Diane Packer, former Town Clerk, and Andrew Ghobrial, current Town Clerk, scheduled for January 21. The committee is aiming for an April 15 final report.
