Hybrid Town Meeting Committee examines Arlington's model, plans survey work

Natick's Hybrid Town Meeting Committee heard from Arlington Town Moderator Greg Christiana and Town Clerk Juli Brazile about how Arlington completed its hybrid-format study two years ago but has not yet moved forward with implementation. Christiana and Brazile detailed Arlington's current in-person Town Meeting format, held eight to nine nights annually from April, and described substantial staffing demands for hybrid: dedicated monitors for remote participants, IT support throughout meetings, backup voting systems, and additional paid election workers. They noted that Belmont is considering pausing its hybrid effort because of staffing requirements.
The Committee voted to adjourn and scheduled speakers for February 18, February 25, and March 4 covering technology vendors and legal counsel. Josh Ostroff and Brinley Vickers will bring a concrete survey proposal to the next meeting.
