Hybrid Town Meeting Committee approves presentation for Finance Committee review.

Hybrid Town Meeting Committee · Meeting of March 11, 2026

NATICK — Hybrid Town Meeting Committee approves presentation for Finance Committee ahead of Spring warrant. The eight-member committee unanimously backed a draft presentation summarizing its work and authorized members Frank Foss and Josh Ostroff to draft motions requesting an extension through Fall 2026 Town Meeting. The committee spent most of the meeting interviewing Belmont officials on their hybrid implementation: Ellen O'Brien Cashman, Town Clerk; Michael Widmer, former Town Moderator; and Jeff Alderson, Town Moderator.

Belmont has conducted 19 hybrid sessions since 2023 under the state emergency order, maintaining stable participation (250-260 of 288 eligible members) with remote attendance ranging from 25 to 60 percent. The town uses Echo360 for voting and Zoom for speaker recognition, and has managed meeting pacing without delay by employing a dedicated Zoom host who unmutes speakers in advance.
