Finance Committee · Meeting of September 8, 2026

Natick Finance Committee backs $300,000 for Lilja Elementary School heat pump feasibility study. Superintendent Dr. Melissa Spash and Director of Sustainability Jillian Wilson-Martin presented the accelerated repair project, which would convert the school's outdated HVAC system to a heat pump, providing both heating and cooling.

Funding comes from a secured $150,000 state grant, $100,000 from the town's revolving fund, and $50,000 in new growth, with the Massachusetts School Building Authority expected to reimburse a portion of future construction costs. In a separate unanimous vote, the committee approved a low-income solar energy revolving fund expected to generate $300,000 annually to subsidize electricity costs for about 700 participating residents.
