Council on Aging Safety Workgroup launches seniors protection initiatives

Natick's Council on Aging Board Safety Workgroup held its inaugural meeting to develop fraud prevention and safety programs for seniors. Attendees Jim Fitzgerald, Laura Forker, and Mal Sockol outlined plans to create a scams and fraud awareness poster for display across town venues and to partner with Lieutenant Chad M. Howard of the Natick Police Department to develop comprehensive safety education programs covering vehicle security, home safety, and theft prevention.
The workgroup is also considering outreach to the Department of Public Works regarding pedestrian safety in active construction zones and will coordinate with the Health Workgroup on medication management and prescription errors. The group will report findings to the full Council on Aging at its January 12, 2026 meeting.
