Natick Council on Aging approves associate member, hears elder fraud prevention. The board unanimously nominated Clifford Scott as an Associate Member and approved prior minutes in separate 11-to-zero votes. Lieutenant Chad Howard and Detective Greg Lanoue of the Natick Police Department presented tactics used in elder financial abuse, including contractor price inflation, fake investment seminars, AI-enhanced fraud, and SIM swap scams; officers recommended credit freezes, phone screening, multiple contractor bids, and daily account monitoring.
The Council on Aging's Safety Committee will schedule presentations at senior housing sites. The Housing Subcommittee, led by Jim Fitzgerald, is developing a Housing Advisory service model similar to SHINE Medicare support. Dementia Friendly Community programming is set for launch June 23.
