Natick Board of Health proposes synthetic kratom regulations for the community. During the May 11 meeting, Public Health Director Michael K. Boudreau proposed drafting regulations to restrict sales of synthetic kratom products, noting that concentrated versions are available in retail stores including to customers under 21 and contain opioid-like chemicals.
The Board also reviewed policies for the year-round Natick Farmers Market, which has expanded beyond agricultural products to include perishable foods, and provided guidance for applicants seeking to restore the historic 1911 drinking water fountain on the Town Common. In health updates, the Board heard that this year's influenza season has been particularly severe for children, with nine pediatric deaths reported in Massachusetts.
